What Is Trauma-Informed Counselling?

You are not alone. Recovery is possible

Trauma-Informed Counselling

Our counselling service provides confidential, trauma-informed support for people who have experienced sexual violence, as well as non-abusing partners and family members.

We offer a safe, respectful, and non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences, strengthen emotional wellbeing, and move towards recovery at your own pace.

How Counselling Can Help

Counselling may support you to:

  • Process the impact of sexual violence
  • Develop coping and grounding strategies
  • Rebuild a sense of safety, trust, and control
  • Strengthen emotional wellbeing and resilience

You Are Not to Blame

What you wrote is powerful—just make it slightly more professional:

If you’ve experienced sexual abuse, you may carry pain, confusion, or shame. It can feel difficult to trust, to talk, or to believe recovery is possible.
What happened to you was not your fault.
You are not broken, and support is available when you feel ready.

Our Approach

We use a trauma-informed, survivor-centred approach grounded in professional practice. This means:

  • You are in control of your pace and what you share
  • Your safety and wellbeing are prioritised
  • We work collaboratively to support your needs

Get Started

Our Values

Four hands holding puzzle pieces, symbolizing teamwork and collaboration.

  • Safety – Creating a space where you feel physically and emotionally safe
  • Choice – You decide what to share and when
  • Trust – The foundation of the therapeutic relationship
  • Compassion – Respectful, non-judgemental support

Service Scope and Boundaries

While we acknowledge the importance of  early-intervention work across the broader service system, preventative or behaviour-change interventions are not within the scope or boundaries of this counselling service.

Our role is to provide therapeutic support to survivors of sexual violence.

Where appropriate, we can assist with referrals to other services that may better meet additional or alternative needs.
