I have worked in this profession for 19 years and have experience of working with children, young people and adults.
I work as a therapist -trainer and clinical supervisor.
Survivors of Sexual violence, an area that I have quietly worked with in my practice and have taken the decision develop this further.
February 2025 was the beginning of a new project for me now called Survivors-Support.
There are agencies that are doing some fantastic work, providing support and counselling to survivors of sexual trauma for free and long may this continue. There is a mix of short term 12 sessions and some longer-term work available too, with funding limited and many agencies facing the prospect of their counselling services being reduced or closed.
In contrast to this I am also aware how much of this work shows up outside of these specialist agencies. In therapists private practices who are not always adequatley trained to work with this specialist area.
Also there are a vast amount of people that do not want counselling but would like some support. I want to give people the choice and to be able to have control over their recovery at affordable prices ensuring that client's are not financially exploited and the counsellors are also not in a position where they are being exploited.
Survivors-Support was born.
My aim is for clients to have access to fully qualified, registered therapists delivering specialist counselling offering short- and long-term contracts at AFFORDABLE prices. Enabling survivors to choose if they would like short or long term support with the option of alternative methods of support also available.
I have developed an workshop which can be delivered online or face2face giving survivors some education, coping strategies and tools to support you in your lives.
This is a project that I have profound sense of purpose for and feel personally connected too as I too am a survivor am very aware of the sheer magnitude of devastation this had on my life. I am pleased to say after having 7 years of weekly therapy I no longer need to to manage triggers with the use coping strategies. I am very aware of what can be achieved with the right support and it is one of the best things I have ever done.
This of course is different for everybody .
This project that is in its infancy and thus far is continuing to develop………
