Counselling for Survivors of Sexual Violence

You are not alone recovery is possible

Trauma informed Counselling

Our counselling service provides confidential, trauma-informed support for people who have experienced sexual violence and non abusing family members.

We offer a safe, respectful, and non-judgmental space where survivors can explore their experiences, strengthen emotional wellbeing, and support their healing and recovery.

Our counsellors work at your pace and centre your choices, safety, and needs. Counselling may support you to:

  • Process the impacts of sexual violence
  • Develop coping and grounding strategies
  • Rebuild a sense of safety, trust, and control
  • Strengthen emotional wellbeing and resilience

About Survivors Support

Our Approach

Service Scope and Boundaries

Service Scope and Boundaries

We use a survivor-centred and trauma-informed approach that recognises the complex and lasting impacts of sexual violence.

Service Scope and Boundaries

Service Scope and Boundaries

While we acknowledge the importance of prevention and early-intervention work across the broader service system, preventative or behaviour-change interventions are not within the scope or boundaries of this counselling service.

Our role is to provide therapeutic support to survivors of sexual violence.

Where appropriate, we can assist with referrals to other services that may better meet additional or alternative needs.

Your privacy and safety are important to us. Counselling is provided in a confidential setting, in line with legal and ethical requirements.

Individual Counselling

Survivors Support Counselling

If you’ve experienced sexual abuse, you may carry deep pain, confusion, or shame — sometimes silently, sometimes all-consuming. It might feel hard to trust, to talk about what happened, or to even believe recovery is possible.

  •  What happened to you was NOT  your fault.
  • You are NOT  broken — and you don’t have to face this alone.

Experiencing trauma can leave a life changing impact, it's important to seek help from trained professionals.

We understand how trauma — especially sexual abuse — can affect every part of your life: your body, your emotions, your relationships, identity and how you function in the world.

We take all of that into account and shape our approach to support the work that you want to do

About Survivors Support

Our Philosophy

  • Safety — aiming to build a trusting respecful relationship with your counsellor where you feel physically and emotionally safe, to enable you to feel safe enought to talk about the difficulties you want to work through to achieve your aims and goals.. This takes courage, time and we will go at your pace.
  • Choice — you are always in control of what we talk about and how we move forward. You will NOT be forced to talk about your abuse unless you want to or are ready.
  • Trust — the foundation of everything we do,
  • Compassion — we hold space for your pain, with respect and without judgment

You might be navigating:

  • Flashbacks or unwanted memories
  • Anxiety, Depression, panic, or difficulty sleeping
  • Deep shame, guilt, or self-blame
  • Disconnection from your body or emotions
  • Challenges with trust, intimacy, or boundaries
  • Feeling “stuck” or unsure how to move forward
  • Self harming - feeling suicidal isolated and alone
  • Find yourself pleasing others when you want to say NO

The First Step

Initial Appointment

Initial Appointment

  • The first step is a confidential and respectful conversation so you can get a sense of whether this feels right for you. There will be no pressure, just a chance to make the decision that is right for you. This is called an  assessment appointment. Delivered via a secure online platform which is private and confidential.

  • You will be given the opportunity to talk about your current situation and what you would like to gain from counselling, together we will explore how counselling may support you and helps us to ensure our service can meet your needs.

Initial Appointment

This appointment is charged at the usual fee. If we decide to proceed the work will continue with regular appointments that are weekly or bi weekly where you will be free to talk about anything that is on your mind. We will work at your  pace and you will NOT be pressured to talk about the abuse before you are ready to do so.  Our focus will be on creating a supportive and collaborative space that works for you.

We offer short and long term contracts and sessions lasting no more than 50 minutes.

When you’re ready, we’re here.
